When I first heard from my colleague about her resignation, I was really upset. I thought about all the times that would be spent without her, and all the conversations we would no longer have at the office, and I could not help control my tears. It was all too sudden. Maybe a fresh grad like me has failed to notice how long these people have been working for, having barely been here for more than only a year. For these past few years, while I have been having the time of my life schooling, they are right here doing real work and facing real problems. I didn't see the big picture. To me, it felt like the people were going to stay around here and linger on for a very long time, and departure was not something I forsee.

I will miss you when you are not around. Enjoy your well-deserved break, dear friend and colleague.
